Viking Ship Under Construction on the ShopCam

Not quite a Viking ship... It's a replica of a boat built in Denmark around AD 1140 and excavated in the 1990's by the Viking Ship Museum at Roskilde.

It's 7.7 meters or 25'3" long. Originally we were going to build the prototype at the WoodenBoat School back in August but...COVID. Instead we're building the first one here in Annapolis with an in-house crew led by CLC designer Jay Hockenberry. Our riff on the design is all CNC-cut plywood, assembled stitch-and-glue fashion.

Watch live on the ShopCam.

Thank you, John. She's beautiful and you've made her attainable by people who do not have the requisite traditional boatbuilding and woodworking skills and tools.

RE: Viking Ship Under Construction on the ShopCam

I so hope you offer this boat as a kit! The only reasons I wouldn't build it would be if I couldn't afford it or I'm physically unable to do the build.  Please send along some progress pix.

Thanks
