Passagemaker Dinghy

I will be atttending the class at the end of March to build the Passagemaker and had a thought about a modification to it once I got it home. My main use of it will be sailing and maybe a trolling motor on it, not so much into rowing. I was thinking about lowering the aft seat, adding more support and extending it forward for more surface area. This way I could have a large surface area for sitting while sailing instead of sitting on the actual floor of the boat.

People's thoughts?

Thanks

RE: Passagemaker Dinghy

Sounds like a lot of trouble.  I built some "portable" side seats for our Passagemaker which have worked out well.  See my earlier post on that here:

...and a link to a Dropbox folder with the photos, in case the one in that message doesn't work:

We use a trolling motor sometimes, and these seats work for that as well if one is solo.  What I don't do is take the motor and the sail rig both along on the same outing.  If the wind dies, I row, which is quite pleasant in this wonderfully versatile little dinghy.

Sing out if you have any questions.

RE: Passagemaker Dinghy

Thanks for reposting it, I am not sure those seats would hold me without some beefing up. :)

I will definately keep those in the back of my head.
