Looking ahead in the instructions regarding the thwarts in the NE Dory, it seems a little unclear when to epoxy and varnish the thwarts in relation to attaching the foam flotation under the thwarts. It would seem to me that the foam flotation should be epoxied to the underside of the thwarts after epoxying the thwarts but before varnishing. I'm curious what others did with regard to finishing the thwarts. Thanks!

If you are in St. Louis, maybe I'll see you on Norfork Lake someday. It would be fun to have a regatta!
You are going to love your boat.

Jeff,
I am in St. Louis and would love to get down to Norfolk Lake in the spring. Looking forward to exploring as many lakes around the area as I can.

Yes. That's what I did. You want the thwart completely enveloped in epoxy to keep out moisture. The foam can then be epoxied to the underside of the thwart. Varnish goes on last.
