starter kit

I just spent a week paddling in Grand Teton National Park. While we were launching our kayak, a Boy Scout troop showed up and launched a flotilla of kayaks. The troop had been working one day a week and built the fleet. It looked like a fun project. I asked the Scout leaders a few questions, the kayaks will not handle rough water and they added inflatable devices fore and aft in case they took on water. Several adults joined the kids on the three mile paddle and their weight showed at the waterline. Some plans call for 10 or 12 foot sheets of plywood rather than the 8 foot sheets this plan uses. The kayaks we saw did not have rounded corners and they appeared to work just fine. The kids loved their boats and they may be future CLC customers. The link below was posted by a builder.
