Tolerable twist... is that a thing?
Hey builder community,
So the Chesapeake 17 that I squared up to the point where it looked perfect before filleting (I thought) has a bit of a twist now that I've checked my work. Fillets are about 20 hours old and pretty thick. I haven't glassed the cockpit yet but I have taped and glassed the seams.
The twist seems to be to starboard aft. Shiming my winding stick on the starboard aft (at the 40" mark) by 1/8" brings everything into visual alignment.
So... based on your experience, is this tolerable or something I should set about fixing before I get further along? I've read that a heat gun could help but welcome any input on technique (or, I'd even more welcome "nah! It's fine! Keep building!"... but only if that's your honest opinion).
Many thanks!

I'm having a tough time seeing any twist. Maybe the back right stick tip is lower.
Are you sure the back stick is level? I can see the bubble in the level up front and that is level, but the one in back is just a simple stick, so I can't tell. Have you tried rotating the stick to see if the perceived twist changes? Maybe the boat's fine and the stick is twisted.
But in answer to your original question, an 1/8th inch twist over 17 feet will not be noticeable either visually or in performance on the completed boat. If it's been 20 hours I would just ignore it. Before filleting it'd be worth a change, but now you're just as likely to cause problems as fix them.
Have fun,
Laszlo

Thanks Laszlo!
Here's an image taken from aft. You can see it's bubble-level WITH the 1/8" shim (and visually more level with the stick at fore).
So... I think I'm hearing "keep building!" - music to my ears!
Unless, of course, anyone else chimes in...

Agree- since it's done, just move forward. Only you (and all the internet) will know.

Sorry... For some reason the photos aren't showing up in the post, but if you copy and paste the links, they seem to work.
