Dory Oar Lock Position

Has anyone installed their oar lock socket brackets forward of the stock CLC NE Dory location?

I was experimenting with double rowing today with all sail gear off the boat and our conclusion was that adding another set of oar lock sockets 7" forward of the 3 stock locations would make a better swing of the oar handles where the handle of the oar would be less likely to get caught in your PFD plus you could lean forward into the stroke more and pull more with your back less elbow.

 (I have 8' spoon oars)

Your thoughts?

Thanks!

Curt

RE: Dory Oar Lock Position

Define "forward," please. I tend to think the oarlocks should be a bit further aft than the position suggested in the manual . . . but then I'm tall with very long arms.
