Fiberglass spots

After my shearwaters madien voyage it developed a couple spots on the hull where the epoxy seams indented and the fiberglass weave is visible. What is the cause and should I bother fixing it?

RE: Fiberglass spots

it would be great to post a picture of what has developed.

it's a bit unclear from your description....did you bang the boat on something?  did the spots just appear out of nowhere?

weave becomes viewable when a boat is dinged....or when improperly cured epoxy is stressed.  but what to do about it, if anything, depends on what has actually happened and the size of the spots.

most importantly, if the epoxy encapsulation of the wood is compromized (e.g., water would now touch the wood)....it should be addressed immediately.   if not, then it depends....a picture and an answer to the questions i have posed will help us help you sort it out.
