I am building a chesapeake 14 from plans and measured everything about 10 times before I cut however the bottom panels are about an inch longer than the sides. Do I maybe have my spreader too wide? I'm also halfway through a 16 foot from the book and don't seem to have run into the same problem.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

RE: Chesapeake 14 hull issues
I'm pretty sure the same thing happened on my 17 LT. Left the overhang at the stern and probably removed it after filleting was done using a japanese saw and shinto rasp while cleaning up the hull for glassing

Thanks guys, that was what I was planning on doing, glad to see it may not be just me then! I will re-check my spreader just to make sure i've got that bit right also.

I had the exact same thing happen when I was building a sail rig from the plans. I ended up trimming the long panels to match and didn't notice any ill effects.
