C16 deck cutouts

The plans show the deck pieces being cut slightly diagonally. They seem to fit on the sheet straight. Is there any reason for the diagonal?

If the pieces fit, cut to suit. Straight might make for a nicer grain line. Diagonal would give you a bit more room to fit everything in and you would probably have bigger scraps to use for other things.
