soldering gun to release broken wires

First, of all, I find it's easier and more controllable to use a barbecue lighter to heat copper wires before pulling them out than the cigaret lighter shown in the manual.

But every once in a while, I break off a wire too close to the hull to reheat, and I just don't want to leave the stub in there to be sanded down on the outside and filleted over on the inside.

So, enter the soldering gun! Just touch the exposed stub with the soldering gun tip, and it will generate enough heat along the length of the buried wire to release it from the surrounding epoxy.
