Alternative Stitching?

Hello,  I am a stitch and glue newbie.

I am wondering if anybody has ever stiiched a boat together with Technora thread, carbon fiber tow or kevlar tow and left the stitching in under the glass.  The only negative I been able to think of is possible difficulty fairing the outside corner?

Thanks

RE: Alternative Stitching?

Haven't tried them but imagine they would be expensive in cost, time and frustration.  Let's see, tie all the knots loose to get the structure roughed out.  Then untie each stitch to tighten up.  Then untie a bunch of stitches to adjust and align.  Don't envy anyone trying to tie and untie all those stitches, especially when they are under tension.

Really not worth the effort. The stitches are there to hold the panels in shape whilst you glue it, then they have done their job and you can pull them out. Leaving them in would make it hard to sit the glass over the outside, and weaken the joint. Stick with wires, or cable ties if you want to do the same thing with more tech.
