sail plan for northeaster dorry?

Just wondering, has anyone thought / tried a single square rig on the NorthEaster Dorry?  Built one with the slope rig, going to build the lug rig soon, and was wondering about the square rig set up.  May not be the fastest, but it may look good on this type of boat.  Thoughts?

RE: sail plan for northeaster dorry?

Square rigs are good for running downwind but do not sail into the wind very well. This maybe why there are so few designs using this rig. It is great for heavy ships and loads on the open sea but a disaster on rivers and small lakes. Even the sail powered freighters on the Great Lakes use sloop rigs so they could tack into the wind.
