Tricks for getting an accurate centerline?

I'm getting ready to attach the cleats on my wherry, and wondering if there are any quick n' easy tricks for getting a centerline marked on the bulkheads?

The tape measure ought to work, but the curvature of the fillets, and the shape of the bulkheads make it awkward to get a clean measurement.

Thanks!

RE: Tricks for getting an accurate centerline?

I would first put a level across the gunwales to make absolute sure your boat is level close to the bulkhead.  Adjust the boat's level from starboard to port.  Next, take a plumb bob and drop next to the bulkhead to the center of the boat (Keel) and mark the top of the bulkhead's center.  If the bulkhead is lower than the gunwales, place and straight stick across the gunwales and hang your plumb bob.
