What are your thoughts of taking a wooden kayak on a rocky river with cat 1 and 2 rapids. Noting very bad but kind of rocky. I am building a wood duck and also planning a trip on the buffalo river AR this spring. Should I take the duck??

I agree, get a cheap plastic kayak for those trips. Its nice to have a kayak you can beat around on and not worry about it but it will also remind you how SWEET your wood CLC kayak paddles!

Keep in mind that the wood in our "wooden" kayaks gives them shape and color but not much else. Most of the strength and puncture resistance comes from the epoxy-saturated fiberglass. Nevertheless, I would not risk any boat that I had spent a lot of time or money on in a rocky river. Go with the Tupperware boat. -Wes
