Curious about the Chesapeake's on the webcam

It looks like the Chesapeake's being built on the webcam are slightly different than what I'm used to seeing.  The bottom scarf's are not in the middle of the kayak but are closer to the bow and to the stern.  On the far right kayak, they also look like puzzle joints rather than scarf's.  Am I not seeing that correctly or has the building technique been changed?

Just curious.

RE: Curious about the Chesapeakes on the webcam

The kits for the build-your-own classes have had puzzle joints for years.

We'll gradually switch more of the stock kits over to puzzle joints, which offer compelling advantages over other methods.  The Chesapeake series has elaborate instructions (and a DVD) devoted to scarf joints, so we have to revise those!
