Thanks for your replies. I have just read ahead in the clc manual. I will follow their directions for the outside of the hull: one layer for the entire hull, a second smaller layer for the bottom, and small extra, tapered pieces to reinforce the bow and the stern.

The initial question remains. 4oz glass or 3" tape for the inside of the bow and stern compartments.
