Wood Duck hip brace

On page 43 of the Wood Duck manual are instructions to attach the backband webbing to the hip brace, drilling "right into the pine block you glued behind it". I see no previous reference to hip braces, although they are present in the photo on page 44. Should hip braces be included in the parts kit? I can cut down the temporary hull forms and use the plywood, but what about diminsions and location? There is also a reference to knee braces at the bottom of pg 44. Any suggestions about materials, dimensions and location?
