hello Darren,i'm from South Australia and i've just got my ches 17lt to the glassing of my hull. I bought my plans and everything to complete my 17 through Duckflat wooden boats and they supply New Zealand white pine for the shear clamps straight grained super light and a pleasure to work with. I'm no expert but would epoxy take to Tassie Oak as is it a bit oily? there is also the weight issue,my next boat project i will be looking at using Kiri which is being plantation grown in oz especially for boat building and is lighter than ceder. good luck Al
