I haven't built one, but I did give it a good workout at Okoumefest. What George said about the handling. It's also easy to exit and to re-enter out on the water. It'd actually make a reasonable snorkeling/swimming platform.

It also has quite a physical presence which doesn't come across in the photos. It's sculptural and invites you to run your hands across it.
