Bummer. I hope you can fix it up. You might have to replace that whole section of decking to make it look nice. Or put in a hatch there. Or maybe something decorative?

As for your other problem, there might not be one - lots of companies sell fiberglass sea kayaks. You did have a fiberglass sea kayak, right? It just happened to have a wood core . . . lots and lots of fiberglass boats have wood cores. Most are balsa, true, but that's just a minor detail.

Maybe that will work. I hope you can get more than the "full replacement value" of just the kit . . . .
