HI, I am same latitude with Alaska near Inverness Scotland.

The winters here are milder than where you are, the atlantic drift as long as it keeps flowing warms this part of the world.

I could imagine Ontario would be baltic, with the hudson bay to the north and the lakes as well. I bet the wind from the north really bites!
