What payoff are you looking for? Just looking at the picture, elimination of the dagger trunk doesn't give you much. The bulkhead and the seat are part of the structure so you are stuck with them. Leeboards on a canoe are SOP so the boat can easily revert to it's paddling status. On a purpose-built sailboat there's no big time benefit that I have ever seen. And, there's the off chance that it may have negative effects. On small sailboat handling is the be-all and the end-all to me. I wouldn't touch anything that might detract from the handling, particularly tacking ability, to get a cubic foot of extra space.
