Strongback Question
Posted by Matt on Nov 25, 2007
I bought some plans for a strip build, and I’m in the middle of trying to gather all my materials. I’ve built two S&Gs, but this is my first stipper. I was wondering if anyone had any expertise on whether to build with an external or internal strongback? My understanding is that an external is more solid, and easier to align and keep straight, but takes more time because it needs to be set up twice (hull & deck). An internal is harder to get aligned, and the 2x4 has the possibility of wanting to curl or twist. Anyway, I don’t know if I’m correct, and was wanting to know what most of ya’ll do. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
