No drips on sides?

I ended up with a few drips and air pockets on the inside of my kayak cockpit. It's not too bad, but I wonder if this might be a way to eliminate this problem on a future project:

1. Place fiberglass cloth on the bottom and sides of the cockpit, but only apply resin to the bottom, not the sides.

2. After the bottom portion of the cloth has dried, rotate the hull 90 degrees, so the side is now horizontal instead of vertical, and apply resin to the side.

3. Repeat procedure for the other side.

Would this procedure eliminate drips on the inside of the cockpit, or would you end up with a bigger mess because you didn't apply resin to the entire piece of cloth at once?

Thanks,

Mark
