Jim...I made my coaming from 6mm plywood. I rounded over the inside edge and then installed the rim up to the outside top edge as shown. I milled the rim from mahogany. When I clamped the rim to the coaming I allowed the coaming to be just a hair proud of the rim. Once the epoxy cured I sanded the proud edge down to the rim...this ensured a real smooth top edge.
