coaming on Mill Creek 13

I finished the deck on my MC 13 hybrid and am now working on the coaming. The book instructions say to round over the top edges of the coaming, but the plans show installing a cap over the coaming. I plan to use a sailing rig so the cap probably will probably add a bit more strength for the lee board bracket. Not sure of the best way to install the rim. It could go on top, centered, or on the outside edge. Any suggestions.
