I have had to wet decks and other panels in many of my builds. I use amonia instead of water. This is a trick from the modelling industry to get balsa wood to conform to compound curves. It works very well and leaves no stains or little raised grain. I mentioned this technique in a previous posting. Just make sure the room is well ventillated and that you wear protection on yuor hands etc.
