That's pretty much how I did it on the 16LT and it worked fine. Another variation, which I plan on using on the Duck, is to have a piece of polyethylene between the hull & the spacers so that the assembly won't initially stick to the hull. Then, once the coaming assembly is complete and has taken the correct shape, I'll be able to remove it, clean off any drips with my dremel and then glue a nice, smooth assembly to the hull.
