Shearwater tips

My father and I have been working on our Shearwater 17 since July and I am just about to cut out and assemble the hatches. I have put a great deal of effort into being at neat as possible to this point (except of course the tack welds which will provide several hours of clean up and sanding.) and I am curious if anyone has any tips on doing this without loosing the shape of the deck. If possible I would like to prevent having to do any trimming when I put the deck on the hull.
