Yea, i built the hybrid deck version. I was told the non-hybrid uses no sheer clamps. I did not like the idea of drilling into the shear clamps anyway so I ended up using Kajak Sport deckline fittings which attach by means of nuts and bolts. I purchased some stainless steel (on the big side) fender washers at the local hardware store to help spread the force out. I did the drill, fill re-drill method shot some silicone into th holes prior to bolting. My deck lines hold strong and the fittings are water tight.
