MillCreek? Plans or kit?

I have been thinking about building a Mill Creek for a couple of years now and I finally have some time. I have a nice woodshop with all the tools and a good bit of experience. I am debating on building from the plans or buying the kit. Since I have the tools and the time I would like to build it from scratch. If anyone could give me any suggestions or pointer I would greatly appreciate it. Also I am a tall person with big feet. 6’4’’ size 15 shoe. Will I fit into a Mill Creek 16.5? Thanks for your help.
