Doug,

I had the same thing happen on my first boat, a CH 17LT. Had to make the 1/16 moon shape to fill the gap. My fix was to put a short piece of 2x4 on the center of the deck above the deck beam. Worked perfectly. An extra set of hands is also helpful when installing decks.
