is affected by rocker and shape of the ends and hull a LOT more than waterline length. There are some 16' that are harder to turn than some 17'.

If a person can't put out more than Xhp and the differences at which long waterlines and low wetted areas make a difference is 1.75xhp then it's all academic. Or more realistically if one can put out the effort where those differences are discernible for only anaerobic bursts then it's unused potential the other 95% of the time.
