Oops; it was LeeG said it would scratch in regular use not Jim E. It would seem whatever you do the end of the strap or the buckle or something is dropping in the sand when you're ashore anyway, just coming ashore will scratch the bottom, if you sweat on the small scratches you'll never have fun.
