I used 1/8 inch thickness-- thanks, ebay!-- and 3M 5200 to secure them in place. I can see very well through them, depending on the water. The cloudy lakes I paddle at home don't offer much in the way of sightseeing, but the spring-fed rivers I did in Florida were amazing. The only downside is that having very cold water on one side of the lexan and Florida heat/ hot legs on the other side created fog, but I'm sure a spray or two of anti-fog stuff would solve that.
