Ive spent quite a bit of time sailing small boat in strong winds, and agree with all Rons recommendations. A word on baling: You will need that two-handed baler, on a tether, and should bale as fast as you can for the first couple of minutes. The boat will gain stability and freeboard as you proceed. The water filled hull has quite a bit of inertia, so you should be able to keep it level by shifting your weight as you bale.
