Re: Insurance

I actually talked to my insurance agent about this very topic recently - my only twist on it was adding camera gear (I've got aspirations for a fancy Nikon, couple of lenses and time out on the water).
He basically said what you did - unless it's at home, it's not covered by my homeowner's policy. Plus, it covers accidents, not stupidity (read: me dropping said camera into lake).
We talked about doing a specific rider/coverage for the boat and equipment. His thoughts were that it would be more expensive than it would be worth (though, he had no problem doing a separate coverage for my wife's jewelry).
So, long and short - you can do a rider/coverage for anything that you own and it'll be covered. It's just a matter of if it's worth the money or not.
