That "reveal" at the scarfs will disappear as the hull is sheathed in fiberglass. If there's any difference at all in length at the stern when you wire side panels to bottom panels, one or the other may be trimmed without issue.

In any case, keeping the scarf joint's thickness consistent is the correct impulse in terms of the boat's aesthetics.
