Ch 17 Aligning scarf

I'm finally starting the build of a Ch17 kit. I've aligned the panels with offsets as indicated in the manual (not plans) to have a same thickness panel across the seam at the scarfs. The hull length measures 17'-1 3/4" along the baseline as opposed to 17'-1 3/8" overall on the plans. Is this close enough? This leaves about a 3/16" seam at each scarf visible if I use a bright finish. I assume having the consistent panel thickness across the scarf is more important than the 3/8" difference in hull length.
