Re: A Maine skerry launch

Just returned from Lark's first shakedown cruise, a quiet sail across Basin Cove as the sun was setting. It takes a bit of getting used to, this different rudder design, but she handles very well. As we were heading in we found we could take out the rudder, pull out the daggerboard, and just gently row her to shore and avoid the rocks. We did add two chine logs and put metal hollow backs on them ( and the skeg) to protect the bottom. What fun we had! She's very comfortable for three people, a real family boat.
