MC 13 Hull
Posted by Gafric on Jun 7, 2007
I'm building my MC according to specs, and started wiring the bilge panels at *the* point
However, I have a *small* gap - about 1/2" long by 3/8" wide gap in the same area. At the stern, the gap is similar, but only 3/8" long by 3/8" wide. The bilge panels line up great at bow and stern (e.g. nice and even). I suspect I could do the same with the sheer panels, but do not want to compound a problem, if there is one...
I have tightened the bilge panels finger-tight and they are flush with the bottom in all other places. This gap thing is bugging me and I want to get the foundation right before moving on to the next step(s).
Questions: Is this 'normal'? Should I introduce a slight upward flare to the points (e.g. give the boat a slight rocker - or leave the bottom flat?)What is done to seal these gaps? Is epoxy thickened to PB status enough to seal these small gaps?
Thanks for your input!
