Lifting a MC16.5 onto car
Posted by Ivan Roulson on Jun 4, 2007
We've got a MC16.5 and a Ford Fiesta with a roof-rack. We've been getting on reasonably well lifting the kayak onto the rack, but my wife's only 4'11" high and it's beginning to hurt her back. I'm 6'2", so the lift is not too much of a problem for me.
I'm looking for suggestions - at the moment I lift the bows up onto the rack while she supports the back, and then kind-of lift and slide the thing on, but it's not a comfortable stretch for her.
I've been given suggestions that there's some kind of lift arrangement, but I'm concerned about cost - the roof-rack cost about one-sixth of the cost of the car!
Any ideas would be welcome - please, no suggestions for a shorter car or a taller wife - she might read this!
