I have used he 400 grit waterproof paper. Ya soak the stuff and then wet sand the varnish between coats. When you get just the right amount of water between your paper and boat it works great. I guess the idea is that the paper doesnt fill and you can rinse it out. 400 grit on a an ros would fill up in a nanosecond. You can wet sand a deck in like 20 min. maybe,
