Chris, and Kurt, That was, hands down, the most frequently asked question at O-Fest. The dye is made by "Transfast" and is a water soluble blue dye I bought at Woodcrafters. I applied 3 coats, I think, with a foam brush to get the degree of tint I was looking for. After the staining I followed the usual fiberglass, epoxy, varnish routine. I scored the border with an X-acto, but it still bled in a few spots. Whether it bled or not I added the white pin strip to contrast the blue.

I used the same stuff on my green Chesapeake 16 6 or so years ago and it hasn't faded (probably because it's covered).
