flush hatches

I,m curious about the design of the flush hatch on the strip deck of the kayak on the CLC home page. There appears to be a line through the hatch, which I assume to be related to securing the hatch. Whatever the system, it is much more aestheic than the tabs on the flush hatch kit in the catalog. I saw flush hatches on some Pygmy kakaks, which were secured by means of a line through the bulkhead, cleated under the deck.
