Mystery Wood?
Posted by Chris J. on Apr 7, 2007
I was rummaging through some of my Dads old wood piles and came across this piece on the left (link below)...its next to a piece of unfinished okoume plywood. It has the grain of mahogany but the colour is very red. Its not stained; it has the same natural red colour throughout as shown in the cross-section. Id like to use it to make the noseblock for my Mill Creek as I think the contrast with the okoume will look good. Does anyone know what kind of wood it is? Will it take epoxy without problems?
