Tell ya what - I do pretty much anything to minimize the sanding on one of these big hulls. This one I'm doing now is a 20 footer with a 7 foot beam. LOTS of area, so I try HARD to not have drips and runs!!
Of course I never lay a sander to the surface until the glass is on and ALL fill coats are done, except where scarfs, etc make it absolutely necessary. I figure Okume ply is already very smooth and until it's glassed and filled, there's no point in wasting time sanding.
