I do not race much but I know your problem. I just melt the fuzz off my carved minicell seat with a heat gun. Some guys go the next step and use 3M Super 77 Spray Adhesive to glue Lycru fabric on their seat but I have not tried it to see if it helps. I find a backband inhibits hip rotation so I keep it fairly loose. I discovered on long trips if my backband is too tight my back muscles get tired from forcing the rotation. On one of my kayaks I have a foam back support that is only 6 inches wide side to side which is more comfortable than a backband and it allows more hip rotation.
