Footbraces and a real seat contribute greatly to stability. The rudder is great for keeping a straight line, but doesn't really seem to me to contribute to fighting "tippy" behavior. Stability comes when you and your kayak are functioning as a single unit. If you're wobbling around in the kayak, the kayak will wobble as well.
