I used the Chris J method to do the coaming on my WR18. Being able to take the glued up spacer stack off the deck to clean & sand the outside made that part much easier then trying to sand them in place. I'll go to the extra trouble from now on.

I ended up putting strips of bias-cut cloth across the spacer half joint, front & rear - after the epoxied butt joint failed when clamping to the deck at the front. The added thickness wasn't noticable in the final assembly, but you could shave the spacers where the glass strip goes if that is a big concern.
